Beryllium as a Base: Complexes of Be(CO)₃ with HX (X=F, Cl, Br, CN, NC, CCH, OH)

We have explored the complexes that can be formed between XH hydrogen bond donors and Be(CO)₃, an unusual base where Be inverts its typical Lewis acid character and can act as a base towards hydrogen bonding with a strength similar to that of pi systems.
